Baseball Recap: Payson Triumphs

Payson extended their postseason success on Thursday against Alta. They had just enough and edged out the Hawks 6-4. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Hawks on Wednesday, they had to take a 5-2 defeat.

Ty Marvin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Payson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

Payson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Alta, they moved to 17-10 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Payson beat the Hawks by a score of 10-9 later that day.
