Football Recap: Clay County's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Clay County won against Cannon County last Friday with 30 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars by a score of 30-20. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 55-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Despite the loss, Middle Tennessee Christian had strong showings from Alie Bangura, who gained 76 total yards and two touchdowns, and Shy Murphy, who rushed for 53 yards and one score on only seven carries.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Clay County, bringing their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Clay County and Middle Tennessee Christian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Clay County sees the field they'll take on Red Boiling Springs on the 17th. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, their break will end when they face Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
