Basketball Recap: Tucson High Magnet School Comes Up Short

Tucson High Magnet School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Salpointe Catholic Lancers, falling 69-39. While losing is never fun, the Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Lancers are ranked second).

When it comes to explaining why Tucson High Magnet School lost, don't look at Amaya Trujillo. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kamila Vasavilbaso, who scored nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salpointe Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allison Even, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 13 points and five boards. Hannah Williams was another key player, going 9-for-16 en route to 19 points and six rebounds.

Tucson High Magnet School's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Salpointe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Tucson High Magnet School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-45 victory against Marana on the 11th. As for Salpointe Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-28 win against Sahuaro on the 7th.
