Basketball Recap: Aquinas Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Aquinas Academy and Bishop Guilfoyle squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Aquinas Academy had to settle for second. They were dealt a 58-27 defeat at the hands of the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Marauders are ranked 13th).

Despite the loss, Aquinas Academy still got an impressive performance from Elliot Keverline, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tess Duer, who had eight points.

Aquinas Academy's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 27-2.

Aquinas Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, they will take on Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy on Saturday. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Bishop Guilfoyle likes a good challenge.
