Preview: Neumann-Goretti Saints vs. Archbishop Wood Vikings
Neumann-Goretti is 2-8 against Archbishop Wood since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Neumann-Goretti Saints will head out on the road to challenge the Archbishop Wood Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Neumann-Goretti is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
Neumann-Goretti stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Nazareth Academy as Neumann-Goretti made off with a 77-52 win. Given Neumann-Goretti's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Nazareth Academy is ranked 122nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann-Goretti's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carryn Easley, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Easley continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Scott, who scored 19 points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Wood strolled past Lansdale Catholic with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 70-52. The victory was just what Archbishop Wood needed coming off of a 58-30 defeat in their prior match.
Neumann-Goretti's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Archbishop Wood, their win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Neumann-Goretti suffered a grim 63-42 defeat to Archbishop Wood in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Neumann-Goretti avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
