Game recap: Mahnomen High School Football Team tops Bethlehem Academy

MAHNOMEN, Minn. - Mahnomen (Minn.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 14 points, drop to six before the final whistle blew on a 20-14 victory over Bethlehem Academy (Faribault, Minn.).

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Tom Pavek in the first quarter, the Indians led 14-0 at the half.

Mahnomen saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to seven entering the fourth.

The loss snapped the Cardinals' 5-game winning streak.

Kyle Filzen played well for Bethlehem Academy. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 18 touchdowns on the season.



Pavek was the top performer for MHS. The freshman quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

The Indians went into the matchup giving up only 4.7 points per game. BA's 14 points were well below its season average of 33.8 per game.

The loss comes after Bethlehem Academy defeated Dawson-Boyd 29-20 last week.
