Basketball Recap: Christian Brothers Takes Down Whitney in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Christian Brothers had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-54 win over the Whitney Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won nine matchups in a row.

Whitney's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalia Benavidez, who posted 13 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Maile Takahashi, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 13 points.

Christian Brothers pushed their record up to 25-6 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points on average over those games. As for Whitney, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-14.

Christian Brothers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-49 defeat against Atwater on the 27th. As for Whitney, they will head out to take on Salesian College Preparatory at 7:00 p.m. on March 4th.
