Baseball Recap: Parkrose Comes Up Short

Parkrose had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-24 to make it 13. They fell just short of the Putnam Kingsmen by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Broncos have suffered since March 26th.

As for Putnam, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-16. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Putnam's part, Ben Boman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Boman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Bowman Jennings tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Joe Salvione, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkrose will host North Salem at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Putnam, they will welcome Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
