Basketball Recap: Williams Comes Up Short

Williams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Pierce Bears, falling 63-13. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-9.

Despite the loss, Williams still got an impressive performance from Marielena Mora Pina, who posted seven points.

Pierce found their leader in freshman Rylie Delepierre, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 19 points and four steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Delepierre. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaslene Condrey, who earned 11 points and three steals.

Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Pierce, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 36-32 loss against Live Oak on the 13th. As for Pierce, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 31-23 win against Anderson on the 13th.
