Soccer Game Preview: Springfield vs. Troy

Springfield hasn't had much luck against Troy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Trojans at 7:15 p.m. Springfield has given up an average of 3.9 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Springfield fell victim to Beavercreek and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Beavers, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Beavercreek are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, Troy didn't have quite enough to beat Bethel on Thursday and fell 3-2.

John Augustine and Kevin Hipolito scored both of the Trojans' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Troy's loss dropped their record down to 11-4-1. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Springfield might still be hurting after the 5-2 loss they got from Troy in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
