Softball Recap: Cartersville Wins Going Away Against Calhoun + How To Watch

Cartersville barely beat Calhoun the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hurricanes put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Hurricanes have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Zoie Shiflett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kennedy Crenshaw was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Harper, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Cartersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhoun only posted a batting average of .167.

Cartersville's record now sits at 12-2. As for Calhoun, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Cartersville will host Woodland at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calhoun, they will head out on the road to challenge Adairsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
