            Softball Recap: Madison Panthers vs. Northeast Bearcats        
        
		
        
        
            Madison extended their losing streak  (dating back to last season) to 23  on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-10. They came up short against  the Northeast Bearcats, falling  20-0. The Panthers were not able to make up for their  defeat to the Bearcats from their previous meeting  back in October of 2024.
As for Northeast, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record  this season. Considering they have won five matchups by more than six  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
For Northeast's part,  Mallori Hankins and  Olivia Cross made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Hankins   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Cross   pitched one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run any time she's  pitched this season. At bat,  Hankins  went a perfect 3-for-3 with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI, while  Cross  went 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Melia Gittemeier was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double. Those  hits were  her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Brooklee Harrison, who  went 2-for-3 with three  RBI and two  runs.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will host Bevier  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Northeast, they will face off against La Plata at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday.
