Basketball Recap: Ballou Knights vs. Dunbar Crimson Tide

Ballou lost against Dunbar back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Knights were beaten by the Crimson Tide 64-23. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Crimson Tide are ranked third).

Ballou's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taurean Ferrell, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Ryheem Benton, who put up seven points.

It was another big night for Radley Strong, who went 13-for-18 to rack up 35 points and six steals for Dunbar. Strong's big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Deontae Brown was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Ballou's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Dunbar, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Ballou wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Varsity Opponent on the 17th. As for Dunbar, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-51 victory against Banneker on the 17th.
