Westlake Charter waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They snuck past the John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills Patriots with a 28-24 win. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but the Explorers were the better team in the second half.

Leading Westlake Charter to victory were Amiliana Moore and Anthonia Nwaukoni. Moore posted ten points, while Nwaukoni put up six points and six rebounds. Moore is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Despite the defeat, John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Acacia Loftis earned three points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Arianna Taguinod, who had five points.

Westlake Charter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.0 points per game. As for John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Westlake Charter will take on Creative Connections Arts Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills, they will face off against Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
