Basketball Game Preview: Segerstrom Jaguars vs. Valencia Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Segerstrom Jaguars duke it out with the Valencia Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Valencia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Segerstrom, who comes in off a win.

Segerstrom took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Calvary Chapel 67-43. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Valencia suffered their biggest defeat since January 26, 2024 on Friday. They took a blow against Buena Park, falling 74-44. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Coyotes are ranked 106th).

Segerstrom is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Valencia, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Everything came up roses for Segerstrom against Valencia in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, as the team secured a 69-20 win. Will Segerstrom repeat their success, or does Valencia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
