Baseball Recap: Olmsted Falls Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Olmsted Falls ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Vermilion Sailors 3-1.

Brayden Cooney spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Olmsted Falls is 4-2 when Cooney allows two or fewer earned runs, but 7-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Liam Murray was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Ryan Kessen, who went 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.

Olmsted Falls' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12. As for Vermilion, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Olmsted Falls will venture away from home to face off against Normandy at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Vermilion, they will welcome North Olmsted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sailors are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
