Bethel took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Elgin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Owls on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since September 13, 2024.

Bethel has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.5 runs this season. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Bethel will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Morris at 5:00 p.m. on the 25th. As for Elgin, they will head out to challenge Bartlesville at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
