Football Recap: Marysville Falls to Nemaha Central in First Game of Season

Marysville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Nemaha Central Thunder 48-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Thunder are ranked 13th).

Carter Hajek was nothing short of spectacular for Nemaha Central: he rushed for 106 yards and two scores, and also threw for 70 yards and one TD on only six passes. Hajek has been hot for a while, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last ten times he's played.

Looking ahead, Marysville is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Hiawatha at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nemaha Central, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Silver Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Thunder's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
