Soccer Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Lakewood was not quite Cabrillo's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Cabrillo Jaguars by a score of 2-1. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Lakewood is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5. As for Cabrillo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4-4 record this season.

Lakewood and Cabrillo could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Lakewood will take on Woodrow Wilson at 5:00 p.m. on Friday down 442 places (587 vs. 145). Meanwhile, Cabrillo (ranked 633rd) will meet Millikan (ranked 117th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
