Football Game Preview: Fabens Wildcats vs. Mountain View Lobos

Fabens hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will welcome the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. Fabens will be strutting in after a victory while Mountain View will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Fabens beat San Elizario 35-28. That seven point margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Jesus Martinez produced another solid performance rushing for 39 yards and two TDs, while also throwing for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven passes. Another player making a difference was Julio Martinez, who rushed for 105 yards on only nine carries.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Martinez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Mountain View took a blow against Ysleta on Friday, falling 52-15. Despite 114 more yards than the Indians, the Lobos couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

The win made it two in a row for Fabens and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Fabens took a serious blow against Mountain View in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 41-0. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Omar Nevarez (who rushed for 140 yards and three scores while picking up 8.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
