            Football Recap: Texico Wolverines vs. Stratford Elks        
        
		
        
        
            Texico fell victim to Stratford and their airtight defense  on Friday. They were  outmatched by the Elks and fell  34-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolverines came into the  game with a sizable advantage  in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in New Mexico, while the Elks are ranked 378th in Texas).
 Cross Figg threw for 45 yards  on eight of 15 attempts.
 A big part of Stratford's  win came down to the chemistry between  Chase Lantelme and his top target  Darius Jones. Lantelme threw for 289 yards and four  TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes while  Jones picked up 198 receiving yards and four  touchdowns. Jones' longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards.  Yenmsi Rodriguez handled things on the ground, rushing for 85 yards.
Texico's loss was  their third straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Stratford,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 3-1.
 Looking ahead, Texico will be playing in front of their home fans against West Las Vegas  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Stratford, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Trinity Christian  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
