Soccer Game Preview: West Ranch vs. Saugus

The West Ranch Wildcats will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Saugus Centurions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

West Ranch will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against Canyon on Tuesday. West Ranch blew past Canyon 7-1. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-0.

Meanwhile, Saugus entered their tilt with Valencia on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Vikings onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give the Centurions' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Makea Leonard, who's now up to three this season.

Saugus' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for West Ranch, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
