Recap: Mar Vista Mariners vs. Morse Tigers
The Mar Vista Mariners suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They took a serious blow against Morse, falling 66-14. Mar Vista was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-8.
Despite the defeat, Mar Vista saw an underclassman step up: Allyson Bell scored eight points.
Leading Morse to victory were Jayla White and Kyla Palpallatoc. White dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Palpallatoc scored 16 points along with six assists and four steals. Palpallatoc has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Deveney Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Mar Vista has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Morse, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.
Mar Vista will be playing at home against Hilltop at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morse, they will head out on the road to face off against Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Academy of Our Lady of Peace is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
