Basketball Game Preview: Wyalusing Valley Rams vs. Troy Trojans

The Wyalusing Valley Rams will venture away from home to take on the Troy Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Wyalusing Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Towanda just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 52-42 to the Black Knights.

Meanwhile, Troy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Mountie as they made off with a 61-35 win. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Mountie are ranked 499th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wyalusing Valley better keep an eye on Gloria Andrews. She was instrumental in Troy's win, going 9 of 11 en route to 23 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Andrews a new career-high in points. Giana Renzi was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Troy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Penn-Liberty only racked up eight assists.

Wyalusing Valley's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Troy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

Wyalusing Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Troy in their previous meeting on January 3rd, sneaking past 43-40. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Troy's Kailyn Sterling, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Wyalusing Valley still be able to contain Sterling? There's only one way to find out.
