Basketball Recap: Brooke Rodrigues' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rock Academy over Santa Fe Christian

After flying high against High Tech CV last Tuesday, Rock Academy came back down to earth. The Rock Academy Warriors received a blow on Friday as they fell 59-41 to the Santa Fe Christian Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooke Rodrigues, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thereza Horugavye, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

Piper Lenihan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Santa Fe Christian, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lenihan has scored at least a third of Santa Fe Christian's points. Jaedyn Davis was another key player, going 6 of 13 on her way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Rock Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Santa Fe Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season.

While Rock Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
