Recap: Westlake Charter Explorers vs. John Adams Academy Patriots
On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Westlake Charter, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-33 loss to John Adams Academy.
Westlake Charter's loss came despite strong showings from Anthonia Nwaukoni and Lena Tahod. Nwaukoni scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and two steals, while Tahod scored 13 points along with three steals. Tahod is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.
Elliott Schwartz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for John Adams Academy, scoring 22 points along with eight steals and seven assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Schwartz has scored at least a third of John Adams Academy's points. Amelia Sabbagh was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Westlake Charter's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for John Adams Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.
Westlake Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Leroy Greene Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leroy Greene Academy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 15. As for John Adams Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Fortune Early College at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fortune Early College is on a five-game streak of home wins, John Adams Academy a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
