Softball Game Preview: Scotland County Tigers vs. Salisbury Panthers

Scotland County hasn't had much luck against Salisbury recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Scotland County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

While Scotland County's victory against Schuyler County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Rams 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since September 17, 2024.

Keeley Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Maty Buford was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Lilly Frederick was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Scotland County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Salisbury started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Westran. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Salisbury's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Scotland County, their record now sits at 3-5.

Scotland County came up short against Salisbury in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
