Basketball Recap: Scotts Valley's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Scotts Valley came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 46-28 victory over the Aptos Mariners. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Mariners are ranked 540th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scotts Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hanna Shehorn, who posted 18 points. Shehorn is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Brooklyn Williams was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Several Mariners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Berkeley Ashby, who had seven points along with five boards and three blocks. That's the most blocks Ashby has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliya Chavez, who earned six points and four blocks.

Scotts Valley pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Aptos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Scotts Valley has already played their next game, a 58-11 victory against Harbor on the 17th. As for Aptos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-27 win against San Lorenzo Valley on the 17th.
