Softball Game Preview: Brentwood War Eagles vs. Trinity Christian Crusaders

The Brentwood War Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Trinity Christian Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentwood will be strutting in after a victory while Trinity Christian will be coming in after a loss.

Brentwood will bounce into Friday's game after beating Piedmont Academy, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The War Eagles never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the War Eagles.

Skylee Duggan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Duggan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Natalie Collins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Callie Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Brentwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Piedmont Academy only posted an OBP of .308.

John Milledge Academy hit Trinity Christian with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crusaders came up short against the Trojans, falling 11-5.

Trinity Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3. As for Brentwood, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Brentwood took their win against Trinity Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the War Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
