Baseball Recap: Atkinson County Has No Trouble Against Telfair County

Atkinson County barely beat Telfair County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Trojans on Wednesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rebels' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Conner Hall looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Atkinson County is 3-1 when Hall allows one or fewer hits, but 6-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gevin Smith and Jack Tillman did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Tillman scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in April of 2024.

Atkinson County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Telfair County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atkinson County will welcome Turner County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Telfair County, they will be playing at home against Johnson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
