Basketball Recap: Lacey Lauer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clarion Area over Redbank Valley

Clarion Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Redbank Valley Bulldogs, falling 64-42. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 599th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 110th).

Clarion Area lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lacey Lauer, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Babington, who scored eight points and seven assists.

Redbank Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mylee Harmon out in front who went 9 for 14 on her way to 23 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Harmon's evening made it 28 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Adyson Bond was another key player, going 6 of 14 to rack up 20 points.

Clarion Area's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Redbank Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Bobcats duke it out with the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Redbank Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against DuBois Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Redbank Valley has won eight straight at home, while DuBois Central Catholic won ten straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
