Baseball Game Preview: Central Lions vs. Heritage Hawks

The Central Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Heritage Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

While Central's victory against Heritage wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Central narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Heritage 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since February 21st.

For Heritage's part, they got a good showing from Thomas Strickland, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits Strickland has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Heritage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Justice, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Bryson Smallwood also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Central pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
