Softball Game Preview: Kansas Comets vs. Jay Bulldogs

The Kansas Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Jay Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Kansas will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Kansas narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Sperry 2-1. That's two games straight that the Comets have won by just one run.

Jay came out on top against Deer Creek on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Antlers. 12 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Breelyn Newkirk looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zariah Kingfisher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Jordan Youngpuppy was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Jay picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-18. As for Kansas, their record is now 11-8.

Kansas might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Jay in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
