Softball Recap: Montgomery County Takes a Loss

Montgomery County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Washington County Golden Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 14-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Grace Richardson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Reaves, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Montgomery County's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Washington County, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

While Montgomery County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
