Volleyball Recap: Flour Bluff Beats Ray for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Flour Bluff came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Ray Texans 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in August.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Flour Bluff took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-11, 25-10.

Alyssa Thornton paced Flour Bluff's offense, picking up 16 kills. Thornton got some help from Lola Fisher and her 23 assists. Emily Eggleston controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Ray's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destanee Hargis, who had 12 digs, six kills, and two aces. Hargis has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last four times she's played. Sophia Gomez was another key player, getting 12 assists and nine digs.

Flour Bluff's victory bumped their record up to 31-7. As for Ray, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season.

Flour Bluff wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Corpus Christi Moody on the 3rd. As for Ray, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against King on the 3rd.
