Basketball Recap: Pacifica Comes Up Short

Pacifica was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 71-26 defeat at the hands of the Ventura Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Tritons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Cougars are ranked tenth).

Ventura's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brinley Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 boards. The contest was Anderson's third in a row with at least ten points. Kailee Staniland was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists.

Pacifica's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Ventura, the victory (which was their 21st in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pacifica will challenge Oxnard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ventura, they will face off against San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ventura is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.
