Basketball Game Preview: Central Valley Warriors vs. Blackhawk Cougars

Central Valley is 1-9 against Blackhawk since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Central Valley Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Blackhawk Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Central Valley took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They took down Lincoln Park Performing Arts 51-35. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Lincoln Park Performing Arts are ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Blackhawk entered their tilt with Lincoln Park Performing Arts on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They claimed a resounding 70-23 victory over Lincoln Park Performing Arts. With the Cougars ahead 39-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Blackhawk pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Central Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Central Valley might still be hurting after the 61-37 defeat they got from Blackhawk in their previous meeting on January 2nd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Blackhawk's Aubree Hupp, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 boards.
