Recap: La Quinta Aztecs vs. Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros
The La Quinta Aztecs posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 on Wednesday. They really took it to Rancho Alamitos for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-25 victory at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as La Quinta also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
La Quinta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaitlyn Mai led the charge by scoring 12 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Katie Nguyen, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
La Quinta's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Rancho Alamitos, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Quinta will take on Bolsa Grande at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bolsa Grande has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 24. Rancho Alamitos' road trip will continue as they head out to face Loara at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Loara is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
