Basketball Recap: Irvine Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Irvine was the 61-29 winner over Laguna Beach when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Irvine Vaqueros took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laguna Beach Breakers on Tuesday.

Laguna Beach found their leader in freshman Fiona McCormick, who posted 18 points and eight rebounds. The game was McCormick's third in a row with at least ten points. Kate Cheng was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Irvine's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Laguna Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Irvine will look to defend their home court on Friday against University at 5:30 p.m. Laguna Beach has already played their next contest, a 46-29 win against Northwood on the 16th.
