Basketball Recap: Daniel Abass Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Fayetteville Academy

DeMatha saw some tournament action on Friday. Everything went their way against the Fayetteville Academy Eagles as they made off with a 90-65 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stags.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DeMatha to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Abass, who shot 78% from the field to rack up 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. Those three steals gave Abass a new career-high. Jared Jeffers was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks.

DeMatha's record is now 2-0. As for Fayetteville Academy, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Looking ahead, DeMatha and Santa Margarita will face off at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for Fayetteville Academy, they will face off against Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
