Baseball Game Preview: Pope Greyhounds vs. Lassiter Trojans

The Pope Greyhounds will head out to face off against the Lassiter Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pope will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Pope got the win against Sprayberry by a conclusive 12-2. Considering the Greyhounds have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lassiter). They put the hurt on Riverwood with a sharp 13-4 win on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Pope's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lassiter, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-11.

Pope beat Lassiter 7-3 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
