Basketball Game Preview: North Penn-Mansfield Tigers vs. Troy Trojans

The North Penn-Mansfield Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Troy Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Back in December of 2024, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, North Penn-Mansfield beat North Penn-Liberty 37-33. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Troy). They blew past Wellsboro 78-25 on Wednesday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Hornets are ranked 471st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Penn-Mansfield better keep an eye on Alyssa Parks. She was instrumental in Troy's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. Parks has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Sterling, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 14 points and four steals.

Troy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The win (which was Troy's third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for North Penn-Mansfield, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

North Penn-Mansfield was taken down by Troy 57-29 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can North Penn-Mansfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
