Volleyball Recap: Roncalli Comes Up Short

Roncalli was the 2-1 winner over Northwestern Area when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Roncalli started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-16, 25-13.

Tara Blachford had a dynamite game For Northwestern Area., getting 24 digs and two aces. Those 24 digs gave Blachford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brenna Halvorson, who had five digs and five aces.

Roncalli's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Northwestern Area, they pushed their record up to 27-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Roncalli will host Mobridge-Pollock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwestern Area, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Herreid/Selby on the 11th.
