Basketball Recap: Milly Rojas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monache over Rancho Bernardo

Monache and Rancho Bernardo squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Monache had to settle for second. They took a 35-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rancho Bernardo Broncos. The game marked the Marauders' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Monache's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Milly Rojas, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelley Andrade, who scored six points and 11 boards.

Lindsay Biddle was her usual excellent self, putting up 12 points for Rancho Bernardo. Another player making a difference was Abby Lesagonicz, who put up eight points.

Monache's defeat dropped their record down to 25-9. As for Rancho Bernardo, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-7.

Monache does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rancho Bernardo, they will challenge Caruthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Caruthers knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Rancho Bernardo likes a good challenge.
