Basketball Recap: Calipatria Comes Up Short

Calipatria's tournament run continued when they took on Laguna Beach on Thursday. The Calipatria Hornets were dealt a 54-14 loss at the hands of the Laguna Beach Breakers. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Laguna Beach found their leader in freshman Fiona McCormick, who posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Kate Cheng, who put up 13 points.

Calipatria's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Laguna Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Calipatria and Laguna Beach's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Calipatria and Desert Chapel (who has only given up 22.5 points per game) will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Laguna Beach and Banning (who has only given up 29.4 points per game) will meet at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
