Baseball Recap: Midtown Knights vs. Southwest DeKalb Panthers

Midtown barely beat Southwest DeKalb the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Midtown Knights never let the Southwest DeKalb Panthers get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Friday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

Sam Dempsey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Midtown let Charlie Frederick and Alec Sevigny run wild. Frederick scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Sevigny scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Frederick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckett Boatright, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Midtown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest DeKalb only posted an OBP of .200.

Midtown's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Southwest DeKalb, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midtown will square off against Mays at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will challenge Northview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
