Softball Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Comes Up Short

Incarnate Word Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ritenour Huskies. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jillian Abegg and Lauryn Walker stepped up to the plate in a big way. Abegg got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Walker went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That home run marked the first that Abegg has launched this season.

Incarnate Word Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Ritenour, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Incarnate Word Academy will face off against Lutheran at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ritenour, they will head out on the road to square off against Kirkwood at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
