Baseball Game Preview: Hoffman Estates Hawks vs. Wheeling Wildcats

For the second straight game, Hoffman Estates will face off against Wheeling. The Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Wildcats at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hoffman Estates was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeling, sneaking past 6-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Luis Tobella was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Hoffman Estates: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 6-19 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chucho Villegas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hoffman Estates was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Wheeling dropped their record down to 10-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hoffman Estates, their win bumped their record up to 8-20.
