Softball Recap: Sonoraville's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Sonoraville entered their tilt with Union County on Tuesday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 5-0 shutout. The Phoenix's pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four contests.

Lila Mullinax looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Peyton Angel was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August. Kaylee Sitten was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sonoraville's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Union County, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 14-7 record.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Sonoraville will challenge rival Rockmart at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Phoenix 1.3, the Yellowjackets 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Union County is set to face off against their familiar foe Ringgold at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
