Basketball Recap: Riverbank Comes Up Short

It was fun while it lasted, but Riverbank's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the West Campus Warriors. The loss was the Bruins' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Riverbank still got an impressive performance from Leilani Olanolan, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points along with five assists and four steals. Olanolan's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Fernandez, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Riverbank smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Riverbank fell to 5-1. As for West Campus, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Riverbank didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-36 victory against Ripon on the 13th. As for West Campus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-36 defeat against Liberty Ranch on the 14th.
